NICU Patient

“ In our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, even families get intensive care. ”

Cristina Broncato

"I went into labor with the twins, knowing that one had passed away. Dr. KP was wonderful, he told us Carmella was going to be three pounds and not to worry. She was just a little bit longer than a 12-inch ruler. Her back was the length of my husband‘s hand. She went straight to the NICU. We couldn't touch her for a little bit; we had to wait until she was in the incubator. The nurses were amazing. They were there for us when we cried, they gave us hugs, and talked to us when we needed someone to talk to. The first time we got to touch Carmella, I had goose bumps. We both have a warm place for the team at the Elaine Kaplan Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St. Luke‘s Cornwall Hospital. Thanks to them, Carmella is here with us every day."
