ST. LUKE’S CORNWALL HEALTH SYSTEM FOUNDATION GALA RAISES RECORD NUMBERS AT ANNUAL GALA

Newburgh, NY – The St. Luke’s Cornwall Health System Foundation (SLCHSF) hosted its annual gala on Saturday, October 19 at West Hills Country Club in Middletown, NY. This year’s event, themed A Night of Pure Imagination, raised the highest recorded amount in MSLC history, with $331,000 in net proceeds. Funds will be placed toward greatest needs in the hospital benefiting the patients and community it serves.

The event paid tribute to three, exemplary honorees, all with notable achievements within the realm of community commitment and philanthropy.

Dr. Constantine Vardopoulos was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his long tenure of giving back to the community and his dedicated years of serving as a psychiatrist at St. Luke’s Hospital. Dr. Vardopoulos started his career with an internship at St. Luke’s Hospital eventually serving as a psychiatrist at St. Luke’s Hospital, opening a private practice in Newburgh, NY, as well as owning and operating the Craig House in Beacon, NY.

David Potack, President of Unitex and past Board of Trustees Chairman of MSLC, was presented with the Healthcare Impact Award. Mr. Potack is known throughout the community for his philanthropic efforts, both in support of MSLC, the greater Newburgh community, and beyond. David’s tenure as BOT Chair spanned throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sonata Group was the recipient of the Community Commitment Award, which recognized owner’s Keith and Anne Perez for the work as a pillar in the community in the realm of economic and community development. Sonata Group maintains a meaningful connection with MSLC , where their commitment to community development aligns with MSLC’s mission to provide exceptional healthcare services.

“This was our first gala in five years as the result of the pandemic and I am so proud of the incredible support we received from the community, with a sold-out event, raising the highest funds in recent MSLC history for one single event,” said Daniel Maughan, MSLC President and CEO. “Together, with our partners, employees, medical staff, and the support of our donors, we are building a brighter future not just for Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall, but the communities we collectively serve.
