NEWBURGH, NEW YORK - July 18, 2024: The St. Luke’s Cornwall Health System Foundation held its annual Golf and Tennis Event at the Powelton Club in Newburgh on Monday, June 24, 2024, and thanks to its generous donors raised $146,000 in net proceeds. The Foundation enhances the programs, technological advances, and resources of Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall (MSLC), a two-campus healthcare facility serving more than 270,000 patients each year. MSLC was ranked by Healthgrades as among the 100 Best hospitals in the nation for 2024.

The annual event featured both a morning and afternoon golf scramble plus a tennis tournament. Overall, over 200 supporters attended the sporting contests and awards dinner. This year’s event was co-chaired by three volunteers: Mike Kirtio, JB Steffy, and Charles Frankel.

In addition to golf and tennis, participants enjoyed activities on the course such as putting contests, snacks from food trucks, and a driving contest with two guest celebrities: Joe Ausanio, former Yankees baseball player, and Rob Affuso, drummer for the band SKID ROW. Guests also participated in raffles and a silent auction.

The day concluded with an awards ceremony and dinner. Daniel Maughan, MSLC’s President and CEO, thanked guests for their contributions and support throughout the event. “The Foundation plays a critical role in supporting the mission of the hospital. Every dollar raised goes right back to MSLC, your local hospital, to fund lifesaving equipment as well as the development of new services to best meet the healthcare needs of our community,” he said.

The 2024 Golf and Tennis top sponsors were Collection Bureau Hudson Valley, Pepsi Cola of the Hudson Valley, and Truform Media Group/Socialfly. Over thirty local businesses and organizations joined the list of supporters by the day of the event.

Proceeds from the Foundation’s special events assist MSLC with upgrading and advancing its treatment technologies and equipment, growing and improving its patient facilities, and enhancing opportunities to improve the health of the local community.

“We deeply appreciate the support and generosity demonstrated by our community partners,” said Nicholas Shannon, Foundation Executive Director. “We take our role as a nationally recognized provider of high-quality local healthcare very seriously. Events like our Golf and Tennis Event, and the level of participation we see in them, confirm that our supporters and community are just as committed to us.”
