MONTEFIORE ST. LUKE'S CORNWALL HOSPITAL TO EXPAND CARDIOVASCULAR MEDICINE AND INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY (CVIR)
Newburgh, NY – Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital is pleased to announce the expansion of Cardiovascular medicine and Interventional Radiology (CVIR) on the hospital’s Newburgh campus, as a result of a $4 Million grant from The William and Elaine Kaplan Family Private Foundation. The CVIR expansion includes the addition of procedural labs and complete renovation of existing CVIR rooms, allowing MSLC to provide both emergent and elective cardiac catheterizations, angioplasty, electrophysiological procedures, insertions of pacemakers, biventricular devices, and more. Essentially, this funding will aid MSLC in providing cardiac care lifelines to the community.
“The Kaplan Family Private Foundation is proud to provide funding to increase access to Cardiovascular care at our community hospital,” said Ms. Joan Kaplan. “Philanthropic investment in our community, and specifically our local hospital is essential in improving the health of our neighbors and we are proud to continue to provide support to MSLC.”
As referenced in the 2019-2021 Community Health Needs Assessment, the rate of Cardiovascular Disease in Orange County is among the highest in New York State, and is a specific focus of the hospital’s patient care services.
The Kaplan Family Private Foundation has funded facility and programmatic enhancements to MSLC for more than thirty years. Some of these include; the Elaine Kaplan Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the Kaplan Family Center for Emergency Medicine, the Kaplan Family Birthing Center, and many others. Since its inception in 2005, CVIR at MSLC has expanded, as the need for elective, emergent, and interventional procedures continues to rise. This commitment to the expansion of CVIR services from the Kaplan Family Private Foundation allows MSLC to further its Mission by ensuring lifesaving cardiac care is available locally.
“We are extremely grateful for the continued generosity of the Kaplan Family Private Foundation,” said Daniel J. Maughan, MSLC President and CEO. “The Kaplan Family’s commitment to and investment in Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall greatly contributes to our mission of providing essential and high-quality healthcare services to the Hudson Valley. Such generous investment in our future, allows MSLC the ability to take the next leap forward in expanding care, and serving as a resource for Hudson Valley Residents.”
The project is expected to be completed by December 2022. To learn more about Cardiovascular Medicine and Interventional Radiology at MSLC, please visit www.MontefioreSLC.org.
