Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Welcomes First Baby of 2019

Newburgh, NY –The Kaplan Family Birthing Center at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall (MSLC) welcomed its first baby of 2019, a beautiful baby girl, Hayden Houck, weighing in at 8 pounds, 4 ounces and 20 inches long. Proud parents, Kimberly and Christopher Houck of Maybrook welcomed their newest addition shortly after 7 p.m. on January 2.
Baby Hayden is the second generation born at MSLC, following her father Christopher 30 years prior. Hayden was delivered by Clarice E. Schwartz, Certified Nurse Midwife of Cornerstone Family Healthcare.
“The entire team was amazing,” said Kimberly. “Everything was great and seamless from the moment I arrived to when Hayden was born; my nurses, the doctor, just everyone. If I were to have another baby, I am definitely going to deliver at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall.”
SLCH’s Kaplan Family Birthing Center has undergone extensive renovation and features some of the newest technologies in the industry, including a wireless fetal monitoring system that allows women in labor to walk freely throughout their labor room. In addition, MSLC labor and delivery rooms include a private bathroom and shower, as well as private and semi-private recovery rooms. Birthing suites for labor, delivery, recovery and post-partum (LDRP) are also available to allow new mothers to remain in the same room throughout their entire birthing experience. The facility also includes a private lactation room where families can utilize all of MSLC’s breastfeeding resources. A certified lactation consultant also provides assistance and education on breastfeeding techniques and nutrition. The Birthing Center also has a comprehensive infant security program.
In addition, MSLC has been named a 5-star recipient for Vaginal Delivery for four consecutive years by Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals. This 5-star rating indicates that the hospital’s clinical outcomes are statistically significantly better than expected when treating the condition or performing the procedure being evaluated.
