Auxiliary Honors Long Time Volunteer
Hospital
Newburgh, NY – The St. Luke's Cornwall Auxiliary recently presented Meg Monell with the Robert J. Rizzuto Appreciation Award at its annual luncheon. Monell has been involved in fundraising for the hospital for more than six decades, generating more than $50,000 in donations over the years. Monell's main fundraising activity is organizing a bridge club in which a portion of the entry fees are donated to support the hospital. She first held her bridge club in 1953 at Bea Fontaine's Dance Academy. The weekly bridge club now meets at the Powelton Club in Newburgh every Thursday. The Robert J. Rizzuto Appreciation Award was created to recognize volunteers and fundraisers who represent outstanding volunteer characteristics and dedication to St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital. The honor is named in memory of Robert Rizzuto, a dedicated SLCH volunteer and fundraiser for more than 15 years. More than 100 people attended the SLC Auxiliary event at Anthony's Pier 9 in New Windsor. The event raised $945 in donations to the hospital in honor of Meg Monell.
