Allan E. Atzrott Appointed Vice Chair of Greater New York Hospital Association
Newburgh, NY – St. Luke's Cornwall CEO, Allan E. Atzrott has been appointed to Vice Chair of the Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA). As Vice Chair, Atzrott will support GNYHA's mission to advocate on behalf of its members and their communities. Atzrott will work in conjunction with GNYHA to assure the sound management of health care resources and to advocate on behalf of the hospital industry, including policy analysis and development, communications, education, research, and business services.
As CEO of St. Luke's Cornwall Health System, Atzrott has strategically led and played a key role in the evolution of an integrated health care delivery system. Having 35 plus years of health care management experience has resulted in patient focused health services, efficiently delivered, partnering with physicians for the community.
In 2012, Atzrott was the driving force in creating Hudson Health Partners (HHP), a limited liability corporation with three Health Care systems, including Bon Secours Charity Health System, St. Francis Hospital and Health Centers and St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital. HHP was created to enhance care the quality initiatives and improved, standardized efficiency to the residents they serve. Atzrott serves as Chairman of HHP.
Atzrott demonstrates a commitment to improving the Greater Newburgh community adjacent to its north campus. Under his leadership, St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital spearheaded $160 million in expansive renovations, new facilities and programs, bringing "big-city" care to the Hudson Valley. This has positioned St. Luke's Cornwall to thrive and grow in today's competitive health care environment.
Looking beyond the walls of the hospital, Atzrott realized the importance of improving the safety and security of the hospital, but the surrounding community. Atzrott led the formation of the Greater Newburgh Partnership (GNP). GNP's main goals are to bring hope and prosperity back to the city and transform the quality of life for its residents and businesses, and there have been many successes to date on this front.
Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA) is a trade association comprising nearly 250 hospitals and continuing care facilities, both voluntary and public, in the metropolitan New York area and throughout the State, as well as New Jersey, Connecticut and Rhode Island. GNYHA is a dynamic, constantly evolving center for health care advocacy and expertise, but its core mission—helping hospitals deliver the finest patient care in the most cost-effective way—never changes.
