Professional Practice Model
What is a Professional Practice Model (PPM)?
A professional practice model describes how registered nurses practice, collaborate, communicate, organize their work, configure the work environment, and develop professionally to provide the highest quality of care for their patients. Further, it supports their control over the delivery of nursing care and the environment in which care is delivered.
Why do we need a PPM at MSLC?
The MSLC PPM defines the foundation and components of professional nursing practice. Our caring theory translates specific behaviors by incorporating interventions that link nursing actions and caring processes. We are responsible and accountable to professionalism in our everyday practice by balancing tasks with the regular ability to pause, appreciate, and “think like a nurse.” Every single patient encounter and every single task completed must be elevated through the professional lens of the nurse who performs them.
